“Mighty Eve’s Daughters of Different Shades”
80” x 60” 3D textile wall hanging
hundreds of photos of women that represent the percentage of beautiful shades of the women of our globe, they are presented in 3D silk flowers
According to genetic science, Mitochondrial Eve is the matrilineal most recent common ancestor (MRCA) of all living human females. In other words, she is defined as the most recent woman from whom all living humans descend in an unbroken line purely through their mothers and through the mothers of those mothers, back until all lines converge on one woman.
“Mighty Eve”, as I call her, lived between 150,000 and 200,000 years ago in the Makgadikgadi Pan, what is today Botswana

Since all current females on planet Earth are descendants of hers through our mitochondrial DNA, the social construct we use to define “race” falls apart; there are no biological or genetic markers that define “race”. We are all the end product of our environment only. Our slight differences in human appearance, (skin tone, eye shape) are adaptations to the area on our planet in which we thrived and evolved.
